Socorro Consolidated School District
The Socorro Consolidated School District or SCSD is situated in El Paso in the state of Texas, USA. For many years now, this district caters to the educational needs of Socorro, New Mexico and other communities. It has 8 sites, and the Central Office Area.
SCSD is dedicated to providing the best educational programs possible for the students in the community.
The district serves an approximate of 2000 students. Over 800 students are enrolled in its elementary schools, 450 in the middle school, 600 in high school and 30 in the special school. It has over 297 employees. It has 4 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 2 high schools for a total of 8 schools in the district. Its superintendent is Ms. Sylvia P.Atkinson.
SISD has a diverse history. The idea of a school district was formed in the year 1961. The residents had voted 63-0 in favor of the formation of the SCSD. It was on the year 1964 when the district had finally built schools. The very first school was the Socorro High School. This high school was to house more than 2800 students for 40 years.
The school district had added a new high school which is the “El Dorado high School”. The El Dorado high School was completed in 2003 and it will have their very first graduates in 2007.
